Summary:
Determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks.
Typically holds a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with previous experience as a system administrator.
Technical skills include the ability to install, support, and maintain software infrastructure.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required.
5 to 7 years of experience required.
Skills and Competencies:
Working knowledge of Alcatel-Lucent 7450, Cisco ASR9010, RAD Network Interface Devices, and MPLS and MEF services.
Familiarity with Circuit Provisioning Process within MetaSolv.
Effective communication skills.
Understanding of TCP/IP networking, including subnetting and the OSI model.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform provisioning and troubleshooting of layer 2 networks during equipment setup.
Coordinate with field technicians for network interface device setup and fault isolation.
Provision Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVC) remotely across various devices in layer 2 networks.
Coordinate test installation and reconfiguration of Ethernet virtual circuits with customers.
Conduct parameter and measurements testing using remote test devices.
Manage and oversee test efforts at remote sites.
Maintain records in provisioning systems like M6 MetaSolv, including jeopardy and status remarks.
Respond to test assistance calls related to network interface devices and Ethernet virtual circuits.
Perform additional duties as required.
