Hybrid Software Developer
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to their primary work location (Austin, TX or Warren, MI) three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business. The Team
The Quality Issue & Incident Management group is a persistent team that supports the Global Quality business organization. The team is comprised of developers and business analysts that support GIMS, Partlink, QPS, and RedX applications. Partlink deals with warranty claims and supplier cost recovery. All of the applications in this space have the following tech stack: Java/Springboot/Angular/Kubernetes/Oracle or Postgres DB. The roadmap for this team is a cloud first approach (Postrgres and Azure migration) and business enhancements for the next two years. The Role
You will have the opportunity to work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies, you will support the VEQ organization responsible for developing Nextgen applications. As part of development activities, we will update existing software and/or develop new software solutions to target specific business obstacles. A repeatable, systematic, and quantifiable approach to the development process will also be applied along with the use of appropriate methodologies. As a coach/mentor, you will provide feedback on the software being developed to software developers. Ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks by working closely with architects and data scientists. What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Developing enterprise-grade applications using Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, Java, Angular, and PostgreSQL, among other tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead GM's transition to cloud technologies. Automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep. Lead cost optimization efforts to maximize efficiency and reduce expenses and monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and enhance performance. Proactively engage in the identification/remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code or solution/configuration. Providing guidance and mentoring of fellow software engineers and other team members. Ability to navigating complex corporate environments and processes to remove project roadblocks. Understands code quality analysis results and remediation mechanisms. Strong Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems. Experience in implementing various branching strategies and sharing that expertise with your team. Advanced CI/CD knowledge including automated builds and deployments and developing pipelines with GitHub Actions. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards. Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology. Lead the culture within their team, holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and modeling GM behaviors. What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)
At least 7 years experience in Full-Stack Development 5+ years experience in Kubernetes/Docker or Quarkus, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP 3+ years experience working with complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures 3+ years experience working in a SCRUM development methodology 3+ years experience in languages such as Python and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Databricks) Demonstrate mastery of many programming languages, tools and/or technologies primarily Spring Boot, Angular, Hibernate, Postgres, HTML, Java, JavaScript, Kubernetes Strong Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems Strong debugging capabilities in the remediation of software issues related to code/solutions quality and/or security Automates unit/end-to-end testing of software systems within their domain, focused on software quality and maintainability Integrate software with existing software/systems Aggressively engage in the identification/remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues Good understanding of software development best practices Experience working in an agile environment GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
