Duties and Responsibilities

Tactical and Operational Planning: Contribute to short-term and long-term IT strategy by offering expertise which supports the organization’s business goals and objectives.

Technical Expertise: Conduct in-depth analyses of performance, systems architecture, and data trends to support decision-making processes. Develop solutions that align with the university’s academic, administrative, and research needs.

Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Assist in evaluating their potential impact on the organization and recommending strategic investments.

Budgeting and Cost Control: Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to influence budget allocations for projects and upgrades. Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure cost-effective solutions that meet institutional goals.

Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure the organization’s IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, managing risks associated with technology use.

Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain relationships within IT and campus partners to ensure the delivery of quality services. Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable information for non-technical audiences and decision-makers.

Network Design: Lead the design and deployment of innovative network solutions that meet the demands of high-availability and high-traffic environments. Create detailed technical specifications and implementation plans for new systems and enhancements to existing network services.

Network Systems and Analysis: Serve as a subject matter expert in network architecture and optimization. Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent service delivery.

Security: Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect university data and systems against unauthorized access, malware, and cyber threats.

Team Development: Mentor and support junior administrators and technical staff, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices.

Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed documentation for network configurations, system processes, and workflow automation solutions. Generate reports to evaluate the impact of implemented systems and recommend further improvements.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT.

Preferred :

Six to eight years’ experience in the telecommunications or networking field.

Three to five years’ project management experience General knowledge of commonly used industry concepts, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications

Technical proficiency in a wide range of network systems, software, and hardware; including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet and other related technologies.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to implement strategic IT plans that align with organizational goals.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.

Experience with large-scale IT projects from conception to completion.

Computer Skills

• This position requires extensive knowledge of network infrastructure.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently in the daily management of LAN , WAN , WLAN , and VPN systems.

• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and related tools. Some proficiency with Microsoft Project and related tools is preferred.
