Job Description Summary

Under supervision from the Associate Director of Systems, utilize Banner Financial Aid, Cognos reporting tools, MS Office, and other software programs including but not limited to US Department of Education's Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), Central Processing System (CPS), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), EDConnect and TDClient systems, as well as California Student Aid Commission Webgrants, to perform data import and export activities, manage student aid packaging, troubleshoot and resolve system needs within the Office of Financial Aid and between University of La Verne departments and external agencies.

Minimum Qualifications One year experience working with databases, particularly those used to manage client or student records. One year prior use of end-user reporting tools such as Cognos. Two years experience in non-profit organizations or institutions of higher education. Understanding of relational databases, and proficiency with MS Office tools. Interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with supervisor, colleagues, vendors, and external parties. Adherence to strict ethical codes required of all financial aid administrators. Self-motivated, quick learner, able to take direction and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Banner Student Information System. Prior experience in a financial aid office, either managing loan records or counseling aid applicants. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Duties

Specific Duties

Utilizing the Banner Financial Aid management system, Automic job scheduler, US Department of Education systems, and MS Office tools, manage the flow of data within the Office of Financial Aid and between University of La Verne departments and external agencies.

Percentage Of Time 30%

Specific Duties

Import all federal and private loan applications, certify and originate, liaise with student-facing staff to resolve questions of eligibility, and export completed loan records to the appropriate agency. Resolve any errors in transmission.

Review and reconcile reports of unpaid disbursements, record rejects, errors in processing, etc.

Import and export federal grant records, resolve any errors in transmission. Perform student outreach as needed for missing application data such as student loan entrance counseling, master promissory notes, credit applications, borrower agreements, etc.

Assist in the annual configuration and testing of the Banner Financial Aid management system, including modifying existing Oracle SQL based rules and scripts, developing new rules and scripts as determined by the Associate Director of Systems, and test outcomes for satisfactory results. Collaborate with the colleagues in the Offices of Admissions, Registrar, and Student Accounts to troubleshoot system issues and ensure cross-functional integration of new processes. Collaborate with the Office of Information Technology to review, test, and implement automated job processes in the Automic scheduling system.
