Maximus is currently seeking a skilled IBM MQ System Administrator to join our dedicated team supporting vital defense systems for Homeland Security. In this essential role, you will be responsible for managing the operations and administration of IBM MQ environments, ensuring secure and reliable message flows across various applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Monitoring:
Continuously monitor MQ systems to ensure uptime, performance, and quick resolution of potential issues, guaranteeing smooth operation of queues, channels, and other MQ objects. Security Administration:
Oversee user access and permissions, implement necessary security protocols, and safeguard data transmissions. Incident Resolution:
Provide first-level troubleshooting for MQ issues, coordinate with support teams as required, and proactively respond to alerts to maintain system availability. Maintenance and Updates:
Schedule and apply updates, patches, and configuration changes to keep the MQ environment stable and secure. Backup and Recovery:
Follow established procedures for backup and recovery operations, participate in disaster recovery drills, and maintain accurate recovery documentation. Documentation & Compliance:
Keep meticulous records of MQ configurations, permissions, and troubleshooting steps, ensuring compliance with IT policies and industry regulations. Resource Monitoring & Capacity Support:
Track usage of MQ resources, monitor system capacity, and make adjustments as necessary to meet operational needs. Support Collaboration:
Collaborate with IT teams and users to resolve MQ-related issues, provide guidance on MQ system usage, and respond to inquiries. Job Requirements: Active Secret clearance is mandatory. U.S. citizenship without dual citizenship is required due to agency and contract stipulations. This contract requires support for systems operating 24/7, and candidates should be willing to participate in a rotational on-call schedule. At least 7 years of experience as an MQ Administrator or in a related field. Familiarity with WebSphere is necessary. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. This position is based on-site, and the work location is Annapolis Junction, MD.
