Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director-MSS and the Supervisor, the Credentialing Coordinator manages the functions required to support credentialing and privileging activities of the organized medical staff. Performs credentialing and privileging activities of the medical staff organization in compliance with all internal requirements (bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures) and external accreditation standards (The Joint Commission), state laws and CMS Conditions of Participation. This includes, but is not limited to application management, verification of credentials, file maintenance (electronic and/or hard copy), maintenance of expirables, and direct support of the evaluation and decision-making process. Represents administrative issues to influence collaboration between physicians and leadership. Guides medical staff through credentialing processes and generates documentation to support findings and process. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Associate's degree with three (3) years of Credentialing experience OR Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of credentialing experience preferred Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) with the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) is preferred. Additional specific experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
