General Summary

Responsible for defining clinical priorities within neurology and neurosurgery, recruitment of appropriate physician staff, clinical oversight of EEG, EMG, Stroke Unit, research and other neuroscience initiatives to be developed within WellSpan Health. Administers and directs the activities of assigned personnel. Provides medical care to patients. Reviews the quality, adequacy and appropriateness of services within the department.

WellSpan Health is seeking a Medical Director, Division of Adult Neurology for a system-wide role overseeing Adult Neurology care across 7 acute care hospitals, 9+ clinical sites within 9 counties in central Pennsylvania.

Position Highlights:

Medical Director of Neurology within the Neuroscience Service Line will oversee quality, standardization and provider engagement in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Reporting to the VP and CMO, Neuroscience Service Line

0.2 FTE of protected administrative time

Directors already in place who manage operations

Clinical expertise in Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuro Critical Care preferred

Highly qualified candidates may be considered for the position of Associate CMO, Neuroscience Service Line in addition to the Division Directorship.

Development of a Neurology Residency is expected in the upcoming years, associated with the opening of the Medical School. The Division Director may be expected to help with the recruitment of the Program Director and with faculty development. In that case - we will consider a greater time commitment by adding academic time.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Licenses:

Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or

Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Medicine. Upon Hire Required and

Completion of a Neurology residency. Upon Hire Required and

Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Teaching skills.
