About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Windows Systems Engineer to join our world-class Engineering team. This role requires deep technical expertise and ownership of complex infrastructure, cloud, and security systems. You'll take the lead on architecture, deployment, hardening, and management of Microsoft-based environments for Performive clients, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with proven experience supporting enterprise-level Microsoft infrastructure, hybrid Active Directory and Azure environments, and advanced Office 365 administration, including security configurations.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary escalation point (Level 3) for complex infrastructure issues, projects, and systems design across Windows and Microsoft platforms. Architect, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud environments integrating on-prem Active Directory with Azure AD, including Conditional Access, Identity Protection, and AAD Connect. Administer and secure Microsoft 365 environments, including Defender for 365, DLP policies, MFA, Exchange Online Protection (EOP), and compliance center configurations. Build, deploy, and maintain virtual machines in Hyper-V, VMware, or vCloud Director environments. Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions with Veeam, Zerto, or equivalent. Implement and manage automated monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Zabbix, RMM, SIEM) to ensure 24/7 availability and performance of critical systems. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation efforts for production-impacting events. Collaborate cross-functionally with project teams, support staff, vendors, and customers to deliver secure and reliable infrastructure solutions. Document system configurations, standard operating procedures, and contribute to a shared knowledge base. What You Bring
5+ years of hands-on engineering experience supporting Microsoft environments in a fast-paced MSP or enterprise setting. Expertise with:
Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, NTFS, and clustering technologies. Azure AD (Entra ID), Intune, Azure Security Center, and Azure-native role-based access controls. Advanced Office 365 administration including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. Office 365 security and compliance features such as Defender for Endpoint/Email, M365 Security Center, DLP, Safe Links, Safe Attachments, and audit logging. Scripting and automation using PowerShell. Backup and recovery solutions like Veeam or Zerto. Windows system patching and vulnerability remediation. ITSM platforms (e.g., ConnectWise) for ticketing, asset management, and reporting.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with an ability to own and resolve complex issues independently. Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical procedures clearly. A customer-first mindset with a passion for service excellence and continuous improvement. Bonus Points (Not Required, but Nice to Have)
Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, SC-200, MCSA, MCSE) Experience with Linux administration in a hybrid environment. Familiarity with NAS, SAN, and iSCSI storage technologies.
