We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-growth private company that provides marketing, operations, and customer support for a nationally recognized membership-based organization focused on empowering responsible Americans through education, preparedness, and protection. This role will be reporting to their northern Milwaukee office three days a week and will be a full-time permanent role from the start.
As a
Senior Data Engineer , you'll play a key role in shaping and scaling the organization's data capabilities. Your work will directly support cross-functional stakeholders by developing reliable data models, enhancing data infrastructure, and enabling insight-driven decision making across the business. This will be a unique opportunity to put yourself in a position to help lead and mentor junior engineers for future career development.
Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field-or equivalent experience. 4+ years of advanced SQL experience and strong familiarity with ETL/ELT processes. Proficiency with dbt (Data Build Tool) is required. Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift). Understanding of dimensional data modeling and star schemas. Familiarity with AWS tools (e.g., S3, EMR) and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau). Bonus: Experience with Python and shell scripting. Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Desired Skills & Experience
Lead the development of robust, reusable, and tested data pipelines from diverse data sources. Design and maintain scalable dimensional data models for enterprise reporting. Define and enforce data transformation standards with a strong emphasis on data quality. Champion best practices in data engineering, including CI/CD, testing, documentation, and performance optimization. Collaborate with data architects and analysts to ensure a unified and accessible data model. Guide and mentor junior engineers, especially in using dbt to transform data effectively. Ensure compliance with data privacy and risk standards, including handling of PII. The Offer
