Position Summary
The Program Coordinator (PC) of the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), reports to the Office of Academic Affairs. The PC supports the university in the implementation and coordination of faculty development opportunities and resources for teaching. The CTE serves the New Mexico Highlands University community by providing programming, resources and support for quality teaching and advising, and for the assessment of effective student learning. The CTE will support Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty, Visiting Professors, Instructors, Graduate Instructors, and other professional staff who are teaching as NMHU faculty, and is committed to providing workshops, discussion groups, individualized support, resources and to coordinating invited speakers and scholars on teaching excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities Implement the mission and goals of CTE in alignment with the NMHU Strategic Plan. Collaborate with the CTE Advisory Board to determine professional development programs and activities, including faculty-led discussions of effective teaching practices, non-content teaching workshops, and activities that meet the specific teaching needs of academic units. Meet regularly with the CTE Advisory Board to discuss CTE programming and future activities. Develop and engage faculty resources, technology, and training in coordination with NMHU offices. Maintain and update content on the CTE website to include marketing. Assist the university in maintaining currency in pedagogy for effective teaching in multi-delivery modes and provide support the faculty in best practice techniques in the classroom. Prepare the yearly report on activities, participation, and classroom. Coordinate budget planning and management. Maintain CTE records, library of resources, and grants and contracts. Track CTE participation. Collaboration with other operational department and community agencies. Minimum Job Requirements
Education:
Master's degree or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience coordinating and developing projects and activities. Knowledge of and experience with current and innovative teaching practices. Two or more years of experience in faculty professional development programs. Special Conditions for Eligibility
May be required to travel to NMHU Centers (satellite campuses). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Skill and expertise in working with faculties (e.g. full-time, part-time, tenured, adjunct, graduate assistants). Ability in the use of technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy. Excellent communication skills. Strong organization and team building skills. Ability to establish relationships across campus and the community. Physical Demands
Working Environment
Work is performed in an office, classroom, or distance setting.
Pay Rate Commensurate with Experience
