This position assists the Technical Service Engineer(s) in providing innovative solutions for products to exceed customer needs through new product development, incremental product development, sustaining product integrity, new or improved test development, and data analysis through experiment design and research. This position will research, prepare, evaluate, and characterize formulations supporting technical activities. In addition to these duties, the position will be responsible for lab organization and taking charge of equipment maintenance scheduling to prevent downtime.
Essential Functions:
Maintains lab organization, supplies inventory, safety, and instrument calibrations. Participates in plant-wide safety practices and related events Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment for testing various formulations. Tests formulations and communicates results. Maintains chemical inventory and observes proper chemical waste procedures. Performs regular sample testing for long-term experiments. Provides customer service in the form of timely sample shipment and communication with the internal customer service and logistics functions. Investigates customer complaints related to material issues and assists in the investigation for a solution. Supports scale-up/manufacturing via raw material shipment and quality control. Other projects and duties as assigned. Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years lab experience in wet chemistry. Safety Awareness: Follow proper safety protocols when handling chemicals and hazardous materials. 80% laboratory work;20% desk work Computer skills, spreadsheet & word processing skills; data analysis Good communication skills, detailed oriented, team player mentality. Inquisitive. Self-Motivated Ability to work in a shared space. Able to adjust to changing conditions and procedures in the lab. A plus is emulsion polymerization experience. Physical Requirements:
Precise hand movements to operate instruments, handle chemicals, and manipulate small samples. Ability to manipulate small tools and equipment with precision. Standing for extended periods while performing experiments and monitoring equipment. May need to lift and carry chemical containers or supplies up to 40 lbs. Good eyesight, including color perception, to accurately read measurements and identify substances. Ability to hear alarms and other audible cues from equipment. Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery, accomplish tasks, or travel from one worksite to another. Ability to wear necessary PPE (safety glasses, respirator, lab coat, hearing protection, composite or steel to footwear).
Business hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm 40 hours per week
