FUNCTION OF WORK: To perform manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.

LEVEL OF WORK: Experienced.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General from a Custodian Supervisor A. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.

LOCATION OF WORK: All state agencies.

JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Custodian 1 by the presence of experienced-level custodial tasks.

Differs from Custodian 3 by the absence of advanced-level custodial tasks. Job Duties and Other Information

EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.

Empties and decontaminates trash containers.

Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.

Mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.

Strips, cleans, and polishes floors using industrial-grade machines.

Follows procedures for disposing of infectious waste.

Maintains custodial equipment; reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.

Sets up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions as assigned.

Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.

Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.

Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
