Position Overview:
The Information Security Analyst provides proactive cybersecurity support to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems at the U.S. Coast Guard ALC ISD. This role involves implementing and maintaining security controls across networks, systems, and data environments; monitoring and responding to threats; and assisting in compliance activities aligned with the Risk Management Framework (RMF). The analyst evaluates security processes and technologies to mitigate vulnerabilities, supports audit readiness, and helps ensure information systems are operating in accordance with federal cybersecurity regulations and Coast Guard policies.

Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and monitor security measures to safeguard networks, digital assets, and critical infrastructure. Conduct vulnerability assessments, evaluate risk posture, and support the development of POAMs (Plans of Action and Milestones). Manage and operate Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents. Assist in applying RMF requirements to all ALC ISD systems, including those hosted in government cloud environments. Support system authorization, continuous monitoring, and control validation processes. Recommend and implement information assurance/security solutions to meet mission needs. Draft cybersecurity documentation such as risk assessments, policies, audit reports, system security plans, and training materials. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into all stages of system lifecycle development. Perform functional and systems analysis related to cybersecurity risks, and provide recommendations for security enhancements. Support the Security Controls Auditor in evaluating and validating technical safeguards and compliance standards. Minimum Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Associate degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or at minimum an IT Certification. (Two years of relevant experience is equivalent to one year of education.) Required Experience and Skills:
Two (2) years of experience in information security or security operations. Two (2) years of hands-on experience with SIEM tools and analysis. Two (2) years of experience applying the Risk Management Framework (RMF). Familiarity with Active Directory, UNIX, Windows environments, and relational databases. Experience drafting and maintaining security policies, standards, procedures, and audit documentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce technical reports and briefings. SECRET clearance is required.
