Position Title: Windows System Administrator
S2Technologies is seeking a Windows System Administrator to manage and support Windows server environments, primarily hosted on VMware infrastructure with additional oversight of bare metal implementations. This role encompasses operations, maintenance, and support across production, test, development, and disaster recovery systems. The ideal candidate will ensure systems are efficiently configured and maintained while contributing to infrastructure improvements and automation initiatives.
Job Description
The Windows Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the administration of the Windows Systems server environment, primarily on VMWare infrastructure but also including bare metal servers. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the operations, maintenance, and support for all production, test, development, and disaster recovery servers and infrastructure. This includes managing the appropriate baseline of operating systems and software applications. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Implement and support client and server technology infrastructure, hardware, software, office systems, systems performance, and technology integration.
Working with monitoring tools, assess and interprets the logical and physical requirements of systems and applications in relation to hardware, software, and operational needs.
Implement efficiencies through automation (Leverage scripting through PowerShell, VBScript, and batch to automate processes).
Investigates new developments and makes recommendations on additions or replacements.
Detailed Description
As the Systems Administrator, responsible for supporting MS Windows and VMWare infrastructure and virtualization technologies. Responsible for systems administration, operations, maintenance, and support for all to include servers (physical and virtual), firmware, operating systems, software applications, and server security compliance. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Implement and support client and server technology infrastructure, hardware, software, office systems, systems performance, and technology integration.
Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with IT policies and procedures.
Communicates with the appropriate groups to ensure that a unified direction is in place and is being followed.
Support VMware infrastructure, server farms, and VDI systems
Working knowledge of RSA
Monitor and maintain network and system security
Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues, monitoring ticket queues
Evaluate and modify the systems performance
Maintain the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
Ensure network connectivity throughout infrastructure is on par with technical considerations
Maintain network servers such as file servers, domain controllers, DHCP, etc.
Perform network address assignment
Maintain configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
Inventory management on business hardware and applications
Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, phones, mobile phones, software deployment, security updates and patches
System Administrator Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years in Windows Systems Administrative role
Bachelors degree
Knowledge base of the Microsoft Server 2008 to 2019, VMware virtualization, and supporting networking principles and tools.
Working knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Office tools
Familiar with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
Document IT processes and procedures
Knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, network ports and protocols
Knowledge of Mobile Iron is a plus
Demonstrated experience administering Server and blade hardware-related technologies
Experience executing the tasks in coordination with configuration management principles
Location
This program is onsite in Gettysburg, PA.
