Position Description
Required Education • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar quantitative field + 1-2 years of professional experience in quantitative analysis. • OR Master's/PhD in a related field.
Preferred Education: • Degrees in Applied Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial/etc), Mathematics, or MBA with technical undergrad.
Technical Skills: • 1+ years of experience with Tableau or Power BI. • Proficiency in SQL for data querying. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strongly Preferred: • 2+ years of Python (NumPy, pandas, SciPy) for business solutions. • Experience with statistical methods: regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, clustering, Random Forests, SVM, etc. • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Soft Skills: • Excellent English communication (written/verbal). • Time management and ability to manage multiple projects. • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support teammates.
Domain Knowledge (Bonus): • Experience in heavy equipment industries (construction, mining, automotive, aerospace, etc.).
Job Description • Develop data-driven insights to support Caterpillar's product development, aftermarket analytics, and demand forecasting. • Translate machine/equipment data into actionable business strategies. • Create dashboards and reports (Tableau/Power BI) for global Sales Execution teams. • Apply statistical modeling and machine learning to solve business problems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, dealers, customers). • Document projects, communicate progress, and address roadblocks.
Team & Work Environment: • Onsite in Irving, TX (no remote work). • Collaborative, non-competitive team with biweekly code reviews. • <10% travel for team meetings.
Interview Process: • Virtual interviews (1 round) starting mid-August
