UWA's TRIO Student Support Services program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education and serves students who are first-generation, low-income eligible, and/or students with disabilities. The purpose of the program is to increase the retention and graduation rates of participants. This position will be integral to providing students with the skills and inspiration needed to be successful in higher education.
The Program Coordinator for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) plays a critical role in coordinating student recruitment, engagement, administrative support, and service delivery for UWA's federally funded TRIO SSS program. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position helps ensure program operations run efficiently and effectively to support the academic success, persistence, and graduation of first-generation, low-income, and disabled college students.
Responsibilities:
Student Engagement & Services Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of eligible TRIO SSS participants. Assist with the development, scheduling, and delivery of program workshops, appointments, student events, and student travel. Teach a section of UWA 101 - Freshman Seminar (if eligible) Track student progress, participation, and engagement using appropriate tracking systems. Data & Records Management Maintain accurate, up-to-date case files and documentation for all program participants in accordance with TRIO guidelines. Assist with the preparation of monthly, semester, and annual reports for internal use and federal compliance. Administrative & Office Coordination Supervise and coordinate schedules for student office assistants. Serve as a frontline contact for students, faculty, and staff interacting with the TRIO SSS office. Ensure timely data entry and record maintenance in systems such as Student Access and Colleague. Cross-Departmental Engagement Attend institutional meetings and relevant events. Serve on campus committees. Communicate with supervisor, employees, other departments, students, faculty members, other school officials, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review the status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Collaborate with colleagues in supporting student success. Serve as a positive, professional representative of the work of TRIO. Serve as a frontline contact for students, faculty, and staff interacting with the TRIO SSS office. Professional Development Maintain a working knowledge of the TRIO Grant. Maintain current knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws/regulations. Attend professional development workshops and training sessions related to TRIO, position, and institution. Working Conditions
Some evening or weekend hours may be required for programming or student services. Occasional travel for professional development, student travel, or TRIO-related training may be expected. Salary range: $35,000-$45,000; includes excellent medical and retirement benefits.
FLSA: Exempt
This is a grant-funded position through September 30, 2030. No guarantee or commitment is made for future or continued employment beyond the award of the grant or the terms of the contract.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in any combination of: Teaching, advising, counseling, or tutoring. Program coordination, student services, or administrative support. Working with first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented student populations. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Effective problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered service delivery. Preferred
Master's degree from an accredited institution. 2+ years of professional experience in any combination of: Teaching, advising, counseling, or tutoring. Program coordination, student services, or administrative support. Working with first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented student populations. Familiarity with: TRIO programs or other federal college access and success initiatives. Higher education environments or student support roles. Advising, mentoring, tutoring, or counseling services. Financial literacy knowledge and/or knowledge of federal financial aid programs and FAFSA. Technology platforms including Blackboard, Student Access, Slate, and Colleague.
