Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
Proficient in writing, executing, and optimizing SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval. Understanding and managing DB2 subsystems, including creating, modifying, and deleting database objects (tables, indexes, views, etc.). Knowledge of DB2 backup and recovery procedures, including full and incremental backups, and the ability to restore data in case of failures. Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in DB2, including optimizing SQL queries, indexes, and storage configurations. Understanding and implementing DB2 security measures, including user access controls and data encryption. Ability to design and implement efficient database structures to meet business requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve DB2 issues and incidents. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Roles & Responsibilities
Database Management Manage and maintain DB2 databases on mainframe systems. Ensure database availability, performance, and security. Perform database recovery and disaster recovery procedures. Monitor database objects and performance for efficiency. Create and manage database objects like tablespaces, indexes, and packages. Performance Optimization Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Tune database configurations for optimal performance. Monitor database resource usage and storage. Database Design and Development: Participate in database design and development activities. Support database migration and modernization projects. Create and maintain database standards and policies. Security Implement and maintain database security measures. Monitor and audit database access and activity. Problem Management Investigate and resolve database-related issues and problems. Document and communicate database issues and resolutions. Other Responsibilities Provide technical support to users and developers. Stay up to date with the latest DB2 technologies and best practices. Generic Managerial Skills, If any
