Position Number: 22089361 County: Pulaski Posting End Date: March 30, 2025 Anticipated Starting Salary: $32,405.00 Skilled Tradesman-Maintenance Camp Robinson, North Little Rock The mission of the Department of Military is to provide a professional staff of Arkansas State Employees who help maintain and improve the readiness of Arkansas National Guard units through effective fiscal management of State Resources, Human Resource Management, and quality administration of Arkansas National Guard Programs. This position is eligible for a recruitment incentive program. A qualified candidate may earn a sign-bonus up to $5,000 depending on the budget. Eligibility criteria: the applicant cannot be a current employee of the Executive Branch, and must remain with the agency for 12 months. If the employee resigns or terminates from the agency before the year is completed, the employee shall pay back the entire recruitment amount received. The Department of the Military is a Drug-Free Workplace, which includes medical marijuana as it is still considered a controlled substance under federal law (Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988). Position Information Class Code: S031C Grade: GS05 FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT Salary Range: $32,405.00 - $51,686.00 Summary The Skilled Tradesman is responsible for work activities in one or more of the following skilled trades: HVAC mechanical (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy. Functions May install, maintain, repair and overhaul air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and combined heating, ventilation, and cooling systems. May assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings in compliance with code regulations. May assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment in buildings and other structures. May perform general carpentry using hand and power tools to repair and build structures using necessary materials, such as wood, sheetrock, roofing, painting, and glass installation. May repair and maintain mechanical and automotive equipment, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, fuel systems, hydraulics, braking systems, clutch repair, steering apparatus, and other maintenance as needed. May assist other skilled tradesmen to complete projects that require multiple departments to work together. Maintains inventory on tools and parts specific to assigned trade. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the methods, practices, and safety precautions in one or more of the skilled trades. Knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the various skilled trades. Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to one or more of the skilled trades. Ability to provide mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates for one or more of the skilled trades. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawings. Ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain inventory on needed parts and tools for one or more of the skilled trades. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus completion of required education or training along with the required license or certification in one or more of the following skilled trades listed below OR the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus five years of experience as a carpenter or painter. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. Licenses Must be licensed as a Journeyman Electrician in accordance with ACA 17-28-304, Journeyman Plumber in accordance with ACA 17-38-301, or HVAC Mechanics in accordance with ACA 17-33-301.
