to join our team supporting the Glen Canyon ICS-Operations group in Page, Arizona. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in network design, implementation, and maintenance, with a strong understanding of network security best practices and regulatory compliance standards. This is a remote position and will require around
25%
travel to perform on-site visits, assessments, and tasks. Required for this position to perform tasks throughout the Upper Colorado Region at the various power plants and facilities. The primary work location is at Glen Canyon Power Plant located near Page, AZ 86040. Secondary service locations are: Flaming Gorge Power Plant, Utah Fontenelle Power Plant, Wyoming Blue Mesa Power Plant, Colorado Morrow Point Power Plant, Colorado Crystal Power Plant, Colorado Upper Molina Power Plant, Colorado Lower Molina Power Plant, Colorado Montrose Field Office, Colorado Duties & Responsibilities
The Network Engineer will conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing networks, identifying configurations, analyzing traffic patterns, and reviewing security measures. Based on the assessment, the engineer will design a modernized network architecture incorporating centralized logging, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and monitoring tools to meet regulatory standards like NERC-CIP, FISMA, and NIST SP 800 series. The engineer will advise on procurement, installation, configuration, and testing of network devices, ensuring proper integration. They will enable knowledge transfer for ongoing operations and maintenance. The role also involves developing compliance documentation, policies, and procedures related to network engineering. Qualifications
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering. Proven expertise in network security best practices, regulatory compliance standards (NERC-CIP, FISMA, NIST SP 800 series), and network design and implementation. Experience in conducting network assessments, requirements analysis, and capacity planning. Familiarity with change management processes, testing environments, and issue resolution. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in network protocols, routing, switching, and network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, etc.). Strong understanding of network architectures, quality of service (QoS), and network performance optimization. Expertise in network security practices, including access control, intrusion detection, and threat mitigation. Ability to develop comprehensive network design documentation, policies, and procedures. Experience in leading and executing network implementation, configuration, and testing activities. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and backup and recovery procedures. Desired Skills:
Experience working in a federal government IT environment. Knowledge of single sign-on (SSO) concepts using SAML and OAuth2. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Vendor management and procurement experience. Experience with configuration management tools and version control systems.
