GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Nurse supervisor/manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Nursing (DON) and Supervisor in supervision, provision, and quality of nursing care in the health center, the upcoming Assisted Living/Memory Care, and residential apartments during the afternoon hours.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
Follows the DON's direction for ensuring the nursing services provided meet regulations and community standards including maintaining a staffing plan with the appropriate number and levels of licensed and registered nurses and certified nurses' aides.
Monitor and support scheduling and day-to-day staffing needs of the nursing department including but not limited to monitoring the daily nursing schedule, working with nursing personnel to fill holes in the schedule,
Assists Manager of Admission & Outreach with admissions & serves as admissions backup and evening/weekend coverage:
Assists in coordinating admissions/transfers/discharges with other departments as needed. Review admission related paperwork with residents as needed. Informs the Interdisciplinary Team of on-going daily census activity over weekend and evening needs. Ensures all equipment and supplies are provided to all admits. Ensure successful, compliant, and satisfactory resident admission process into The Birches.
Assists in training programs for agency and nursing staff.
Monitor and support an effective care program, wound care program, and infection control program in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and supervisor.
Participates in the coordination of resident care services through departmental associate review of assessments, prepares and analyzes necessary information from assigned audits, help tracking medications storage and return
Maintains clinical skills and stays knowledgeable of current standards of nursing practice through nursing education related to geriatrics.
Ensures compliance that significant clinical developments of residents are reported to necessary individuals including MDH. May also included check accuracy of the comprehensive plan of care for residents consistent with all federal and state regulations in coordination with the frontline nursing team, RAI Coordinator, and DON.
Serves in an "on call" rotation with nursing leadership for weekends.
Establishing IDT presence and support in the evening hours not limited to departments of Social Services, MDS Coordinator, and others as applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered nurse with a current license in Minnesota. Two years' experience in geriatric nursing and/or B.S. Degree in nursing. Participation in professional organizations, dealing primarily in geriatrics preferred. 1-2 years of supervisory experience strongly preferred. Basic computer proficiency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary DOQ: $80,000 - $95,000 Annual Base Salary
