Application Development/Support Manager
Job Summary:
The
Application Development/Support Manager - Guidewire PolicyCenter
is responsible for leading a team of software developers and technical professionals in the design, implementation, and support of enterprise insurance solutions, with a primary focus on the
Guidewire PolicyCenter
platform. This role ensures the successful delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance applications, whether custom-built, integrated, or third-party solutions. The successful candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise in the
Guidewire suite , strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record in application development and project execution.
Major Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development Manage, mentor, and develop a team of application developers, ensuring high performance and growth. Assign and track daily activities to ensure timely and quality delivery of project milestones. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Solution Delivery Oversee the architecture, design, configuration, and development of solutions primarily on the
Guidewire PolicyCenter
platform. Manage the delivery of integrations between PolicyCenter and other enterprise systems. Ensure compliance with security, quality, and performance standards. Support the
digital enablement initiatives
by leading the design and implementation of modern, user-centric insurance applications. Project & Process Management Collaborate with Project Managers and Business Analysts to create realistic project timelines and delivery plans. Monitor progress and risks and implement corrective actions as needed to keep initiatives on track. Coordinate deployment, release management, and production support activities. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a key liaison between IT and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables. Work closely with QA teams, DBAs, infrastructure teams, and support personnel for smooth project execution. Technology Enablement Evaluate and implement tools and practices that enhance productivity, development quality, and system performance. Stay current with industry trends and emerging Guidewire best practices. Qualifications:
Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering or related field, or related years of experience
Experience/Specialized Skills:
Required
3-5 years of technical lead / management experience in an application development setting 5+ years of experience with backend technologies (e.g., C#, .Net Core, RESTful service development, SQL/T-SQL) Guidewire certifications (e.g., PolicyCenter Configuration or Integration Developer). Familiarity with other Guidewire products (BillingCenter, ClaimCenter). Knowledge of the P&C insurance domain. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker). Strong understanding of development best practices, design patterns, and standards, and how to apply them Experience leading agile development teams, including feature/user story development, estimating, unit testing, etc. Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills Strong understanding of software delivery life cycle Ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization, and with external partners Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present ideas to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences Working understanding of Git (pull, push, add, commit, clone, etc.) Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate team members Special Considerations:
Physical Requirements:
Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) Heavy use of computer and office equipment. Travel/Hours of Service:
