Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position supports the movement of inbound ocean freight to the Los Angeles region, through coordination with terminals, truckers, our warehouse, and other Expeditors offices.
The focus is proactive and innovative customer service.
This position requires agents to use critical thinking skills to build customized solutions to various customers.
This position is located within our Carson office facility and will primarily be computer work with some interaction with freight or customers as needed.
The position will require phone and email communication with Expeditors employees, trucking companies, and other strategic service providers.
Position Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Exceptional Customer Service and be the main point of contact for the customer / import teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with our drayage / transloading service providers
Track and Trace containers at terminals availability, holds, and clearance(s) when applicable
Ensure we receive all necessary documents from imports/customer to transload
Dispatch arrival notices to drayage/transload service providers timely
Assist with quoting dray and transload services using rate sheet. Receive necessary information to quote (DG/Haz, floor-loaded/palletized, special handling, etc)
Keep up to date record of service provider rates to ensure we are covered by our rate sheet
Ensure smooth hand off to truckload team to schedule final delivery once available at the transloading warehouse
Ensure accurate and timely client and vendor billing for drayage and transload services
Participate in internal and external customer meetings
Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system
Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Degree or equivalent required
Successful candidates must pass a background check
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa
Fluent in English, both written and verbal
Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department's needs
Must be able to commute to the city of Carson, CA
Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
Comfortable working in a professional business environment with constant interaction with other team members, customer, other offices, and vendors.
Desired Qualifications:
Associates or Undergraduate Degree Preferred
Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
Demonstrated ability to be proactive in thought and action
Strong organizational skills
Analytical with a strong attention to detail
Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability
Reporting Structure
Agents report to Supervisors. Supervisors report to Department Manager.
