What you do here matters, and we value every contribution.Department Overview:The Office of Field Experiences creates, promotes, and supports mutually beneficial clinical partnerships between the College of Education and P-12 SCHOOL DISTRICTS so that: TEACHER CANDIDATES engage in and reflect on high quality clinical experiences; CLINICAL EDUCATORS grow as mentors and teacher leaders; and together they also collaborate in teaching and learning, professional development, and reflection to create a positive impact on P-12 STUDENT learning and their LARGER COMMUNITIES.Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Attend each orientation program for each teacher candidate assigned to you (clinical experience and/or clinical practice) and meet with assigned candidates. Attend the clinical supervisors' meetings held at the beginning and end of each semester. Contact the cooperating teacher to introduce yourself and arrange for a "Hello" or initial visit. Introduce yourself to the principal on the first visit to the school. Conduct a pre and post-observation conference. Document each observation by recording and identifying information, classroom appearance, evaluation of lesson taught - both content and method of presentation, pupil conduct, student-teacher appearance, and student-teacher's overall contribution to the school. Document each conference with the student teacher and with the mentor. Record the cooperating teacher's assessment of the progress of the candidate. Read and provide feedback on weekly journal submissions. Notify the Office of Field Experiences if a candidate is having great difficulty and complete a Clinical Intern Action Plan. Work with the cooperating teacher, principal, and teacher candidate on interventions. Complete all assessment forms through Chalk and Wire by posted due dates. Prepare travel expense voucher. Complete and return surveys to support program improvement sent periodically throughout the year. Inform the OFE office if you are unable to serve as a supervisor for the next semester.
