Director of IT & Cyber Security
Location: Durham, NC (Position requires a full-time presence in Durham, NC)
Reports To: Chief of Staff
Base Salary Range: $140,000 - 160,000 per year

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Director for our organization's cybersecurity strategy and IT Operations. This role is ideal for a cybersecurity professional looking to grow into a leadership position. The Director will manage security policies, risk assessments, compliance initiatives, and incident response efforts, as well as drive the company IT strategy & ecosystem. Role will also include IT firm management, project roll outs and IT & Security budget management.
Key Responsibilities:
Champion the development and implementation of information security policies, standards, and procedures. Monitor and analyze security alerts and incidents, and lead incident response efforts. Manage risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential threats. Support compliance with regulatory requirements as necessary Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure secure system architecture and configurations. Facilitate and participate in security awareness training and internal communication efforts. Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure system security and efficiency. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and networks. Support efficiency and tool-driven enhancements to company processes. Manage IT budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships. Work with key internal stakeholders including HR, Tech, and Product. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or risk management, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or management role. Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls). Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure. Experience with cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure), cybersecurity practices, and enterprise software. Experience with AI efficiency improvements & successful implementations. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Experience working with/ managing an external IT firm, IT project management, and stakeholder management. Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CISM, CISSP, CCSP, GSEC) are a plus. Preferred Attributes:
