Education, Experience and Skill Requirements •Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security or related field or 2+ years of experience. •Must have or be able to obtain CJIS Level 4 Certification. •Experience with administrating SIEM (Splunk), EDR/XDR, vulnerability scanners, Active Directory, DNS, and Linux. •Experience with networking, servers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, PAM, EDR, AV, SIEM, and SOAR. •Experience identifying vulnerabilities, hardening systems and software, detecting and responding to breaches, and recovering from incidents. •Possess CompTIA Security+ or acquire within 90 days of hire. •Strong interpersonal skills for working with users and other department management. •Strong troubleshooting skills for solving problems accurately and quickly. •Ability to work without direct supervision and on multiple projects at one time while maintaining quality of work. •Must be able to participate in rotating call schedule (one full week, approximately every 24 weeks) and must be able to aid others on non-call weeks. •After-hours and weekend work required depending on the nature of the project. •Strong verbal and written communication skills. •Additional security certifications (CySA+, SSCP, CISSP, etc.) a bonus.

Primary Job Duties

Summary: This position will monitor and analyze the security of all Montgomery County Information Technology infrastructure, report findings, and propose changes to bolster the security of the environment. •Work with network/system admins to audit and implement best practices. •Actively monitor for and respond to incidents. •Review configurations of firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, AV, and other security systems. •Aid in establishing and implementing information security policy. •Provide third-tier support to Helpdesk. •Provide research and development of new products related to improving and securing the County server environment. •Assist in the maintenance of network infrastructure security across all platforms. •Support development efforts related to infrastructure and business needs. •Maintains documentation of server hardware, software, procedures, and implementations. •Support configuration and maintenance of server management/monitoring software for all platforms. •Assist with vulnerability identification and remediation. •Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors. •Support change management efforts. •Additional duties as required.
