Mission
Quantum is seeking a
S
enior Linux System Administrator
to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing (HPC) Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) and the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. T he position is currently able to telework two days a week if employee resides outside 50 miles.
A successful candidate should be customer service oriented, attentive to detail, self-motivated and work well in teams. The selected system administrator will work with a team of engineers to review and define configurations; create automation scripts to deploy and configure network assets; review and deploy software applications; and provide support for testing, demonstration, and technical interchange meetings to include troubleshooting, patching, hardening, and configuration management. You will also need to be willing to respond to occasional off-hours outages and take part in subsequent service restoration efforts.
Responsibilities
Provide for RedHat Linux systems administration, performance tuning, client security administration, systems software support, and technology assessments in support of a multi-platform UNIX environment. Perform systems enhancement, configuration, maintenance, installation, interfaces, coordination, and software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages. Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum level of performance in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements. Perform acceptance testing of modules, subsystems, and total systems. Will be responsible to perform software installation and configuration. Monitor log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems. Demonstrate ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines. Ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
Requirements
Top Secret Security Clearance BS degree with three years exp is preferred; will consider AS +6 or HS diploma with a minimum of 8 years' experience performing Computer Systems Administrator and information technology functions DoD 8570 IAT II Certification (i.e. Security+) OS Software Certification (i.e. Linux+) Linux Administration (RHEL 7/8) Ability to create/maintain scripts DoD System Admin Experience (STIGs, RMF, etc.) Comprehensive understanding of Server Management Technologies include SIEM, vulnerability assessment, discovery, infrastructure (firewall, IPS/IDS, proxy, network capture), host-based security, penetration testing/external assessment tools, forensics, etc. VMware
Desired/Preferred Skills
Zabbix (or similar tools) Containerization Radix/eMASS (or similar scanning tools) Archival Storage Systems Portable Batch System (PBS), Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management (SLURM), or IBM Platform Load Sharing Facility (LSF) schedulers Experience
