About the Role
Eli’s Auto Center is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Body Shop File Handler/Estimator
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate repair estimates, managing relationships with customers and insurance adjusters, and ensuring timely and profitable job completion. This is a key position that helps maintain our high-quality service standards and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Insurance Relations
Greet all customers promptly and provide fair, transparent estimates for repairs.
Communicate clearly regarding cost, timelines, and expectations.
Build and maintain professional relationships with insurance adjusters and appraisers.
Ensure all repair bills reflect fair pricing and adequate profit margins.
Handle customer concerns professionally and proactively.
Obtain proper approvals for all repair adjustments from both the customer and insurer.
Coordinate with the shop foreman to schedule jobs efficiently and meet delivery targets.
Perform thorough final inspections to ensure all requested work is completed.
Finalize billing prior to notifying customers of job completion.
Follow all payment and collection policies, including insurance payment timelines.
Secure all insurance supplements and approvals prior to vehicle release.
Management System Use
Enter all estimates and invoices accurately into the management system.
Audit files regularly to ensure gross profit accuracy and job documentation integrity.
Parts Ordering
Place parts orders promptly, only after a complete tear-down and evaluation.
Source parts from at least three vendors when possible and document quotes.
Qualifications
Experience in a body shop or collision repair environment required.
ASI, iCar, and specialty make certifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Familiarity with estimating or body shop management software is a plus.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Working Conditions
This position is based in the body shop garage office and may involve exposure to noise, dust, paint fumes, vehicle exhaust, and other shop-related substances. Appropriate safety precautions are expected at all times.
