What you'll be doing:
Ensures that Caltrol contractual obligations and our customer’s system design and control application requirements are satisfied in a manner that will produce the maximum revenue for minimum cost, consistent with maintaining customer goodwill. Design, develop, configure, and implement a control strategy and application from P&ID instrument drawings. Implement and/or modifies DeltaV, WirelessHART, and AMS Device Manager systems. Collaborate with Automation Services management, Project Managers to prepare and implements plans & schedules for automation work including procurement, fabrication, configuration, plant site installation, system commissioning, and startup of Emerson or other Caltrol-supplied control systems. Oversee on-site system installations. Coordinate sub-contractors used on projects. Complete or direct control loop and system application tuning. Lead and supervise the work of less-senior team members. Provide in-depth knowledge of field I/O devices, such as pressure, flow, and temperature transmitters. Provide systems level support assistance to other Process Systems & Services group team members. Provide and assist sales team with information regarding existing or future customer needs that may result in additional equipment, services, or engineering sales. Continuous training on Emerson or Caltrol related products including testing and certification. Provide technical, engineering or troubleshooting assistance to installed base customers. Assist services sales team with estimation and quote preparation. Plan and organize sales calls. Develop and implement pursuit strategy using the Solutions Selling Process. Maintain necessary sales communications tools such as CRM, Blue Sheets, PATT, and others as required. Consult with Caltrol and Emerson engineering management to determine engineering and service requirements and strategy. Identify customer's Critical Success Factors (CSF), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and key initiatives in order to support development of sales strategies, and project justifications. Develop actionable team-oriented strategies. What we’re looking for:
In depth understanding of process control and instrumentation. In depth knowledge of configuration and applications level software. As part of system control development or system commissioning implements or modifies control strategies to fit control application. Conceptual knowledge of specialized control systems (i.e. boiler, batch, continuous, feedforward/feedback, cascade, theory of control). Demonstrated successful selling skills. Ability to interact with customers and develop process improvements. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written skills to effectively communicate. Proficient with Microsoft software applications. Ability to handle special assignments and schedule demanding workload requirements to meet customer deadlines. Works well under pressure: sometimes meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. Willingness to work the hours needed to meet customer requirements. Understanding of customers' organization, business model, and processes. Ability to instill customer and peer confidence. Ownership mentality. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that reflect and uphold the company’s mission, vision, and core values in all interactions and decisions. Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Four-year (BS) degree in engineering or extensive industry experience. Extensive knowledge of specialized control systems processes (i.e. boiler control, batch, continuous. Specific implementation skills for DeltaV, WirelessHART, and AMS Device Manager. 5+ years of experience in process control sales, system design, and configuration of control strategy, including troubleshooting, system startup and commissioning services. Hiring Range:
The hiring range for this position is
$100k-$160k annually plus Quarterly Profit Sharing.
This is the base pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position. In addition, you will receive a company performance bonus structured to match the thrill of your success stories.

Work Environment/Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday. Standard business hours. This position is eligible for Caltrol’s hybrid work program allowing remote work for up to two days per week. Solutions Architects will be on call occasionally outside of standard business hours as scheduled by the After-Hours program manager, which may require coming into the office and/or working remotely to resolve customer issues.
Physical Demands:
Use of hand tools, automation software, test and diagnostic equipment, Occasional heavy lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required.
Travel:
20% - 40%. Frequent travel to customer sites throughout Caltrol's territory. Occasional travel to Caltrol branch offices, and other representative and factory sites as required.
