The Database Administrator (DBA) works with software and determines ways to organize and store data.
The ideal candidate will identify user requirements, set up computer databases, test and coordinate modifications to the computer database systems. The DBA will also ensure the performance of the system, understand the platform on which the database runs, and add new users to the system. Other activities may include planning and coordination of security measures, data integrity, backup systems, and database security.
Some of the tasks to be performed include:
Work with software and determine ways to organize and store data, identify user requirements, set up computer databases, and test and coordinate modifications to the computer database systems. Ensure best performance of the system, understand the platform(s) on which the database runs and add new users to the system. Plan and coordinate security measures, data-integrity, backup systems, database security and related measures. Provide technical expertise in the use of DBMS and evaluate/recommend available products to support validated user requirements. Manage the development of database projects and, when necessary, plan, budget and staff resources accordingly to maximize benefits. Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provide, when necessary, support to IT systems to include day-to-day operations and problem troubleshooting and resolution. Provide necessary support for the escalation and communication of status to program management staff and internal customers. Coordinate changes to databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. Conduct ad-hoc advanced analysis of output and performance. Skills & Requirements
KNOWLEDGE NEEDED
Data Models - Experience interpreting data models and developing database structures; using standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models; and implementing and troubleshooting programming changes and modifications. Security - Knowledge of security requirements for databases, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures. Computers and Electronics - Generic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, satellites, including applications and programming. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Candidates with a strong understanding of Natural Language Processing or knowledge of NLP processes and technologies used will be preferred.
