PlanIT Group is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will lead a group of engineers in a multi-account and complex network environment to deliver services to customers, maintain and update infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and modernize preexisting environments.

AWS Cloud Architect

Lead a group of engineers in a multi-account and complex network environment to deliver services to customers, maintain and update infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and modernize preexisting environments. Lead cloud migration efforts by providing technical knowledge and expertise to customers. Provide guidance on AWS service usage, cost optimization, and cloud-native architecture best practices. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation. Ensure alignment with Zero Trust Architecture, TIC 3.0, and agency specific policies. Support the development of cloud security plans, including ATO packages and continuous monitoring strategies. 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud architecture. Strong experience with scripting and troubleshooting code in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience leading a team of engineers in a cloud and/or hybrid-cloud environment. Experience working on federal government projects and knowledge of federal cloud compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP). AWS-based certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect). Direct experience implementing artificial intelligence (AI) cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon BedRock, Azure OpenAI, Lex, Comprehend, etc.) to include Large Language Model and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. Demonstrated experience designing an evaluated Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) Additional Provisions: • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance • Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check. • All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident. • Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years. • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years.
