Description

SUMMARY:

Repairs and maintains the Assembly machines to ensure compliance with JST's Quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective actions. Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality. Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new pole sizes of performs scheduled maintenance. Tests equipment to check operations. Clears jams and inspects product after setup or repair. Examines tests and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specification, using gauges and instruments, and records the data on appropriate forms. Checks products for visual defects. Examines defects and analyzes causes and where possible, takes corrective actions. Operates equipment during relief periods or manpower shortages. Performs product examination and rework when assigned. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and employees. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Requisitions and inspects materials and department products. Assigns maintenance personnel and schedules to maximize production schedules. Sets up machines and repairs them as needed. Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to the Foreman (Maintenance Superintendent) and Assembly Supervisor. Performs the activities of the workers being supervised when needed. Inspection of first piece samples and acceptance. Inspection of completed lots and acceptance in the supervisors/foreman's absence. Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma and trade school. Previous assembly or other type of machinery operation a plus, but will train. Multi-tasking ability a necessity. Ability to use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, dial calipers, comparators, etc.) Minimum of 2 years experience as Maintenance "B" Technician or a combination of 5 years experience. Must be able to converse and write in English using technical terms for the production industry. Working knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, English/metric conversions, and simple application geometry. Should be able to make advanced decisions concerning quality, machine operation and processing adjustments.
