The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the educational mission of the institution by maintaining, deploying, and supporting classroom and administrative technology. This position involves both technical and physical tasks, including the installation of hardware such as interactive whiteboards, projectors, surveillance systems, and computer labs, as well as providing end-user support and training to faculty and staff. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems across the district, including classroom technologies (interactive flat panels, projectors, document cameras), networked printers, and staff/faculty workrooms. Perform physical installations of audiovisual (AV) and security hardware such as wall-mounted interactive boards, overhead projectors, and IP surveillance cameras; run cabling and perform necessary mounting and alignment. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to systems, applications, networking (wired and wireless), and instructional technology to ensure minimal disruption to teaching and administrative activities. Provide on-site and remote technical support to educators, administrators, and students, including login assistance, application support, and connectivity troubleshooting. Deliver in-person and virtual training to staff and faculty on the proper use of educational technologies when appropriate. Monitor system performance using diagnostic tools and manage preventative maintenance tasks on classroom and office IT equipment. Collaborate with the Director of Technology, other systems administrators, and school leadership on the rollout and implementation of new educational technologies. Maintain accurate technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, hardware configurations, SOPs, and inventory logs in accordance with district standards. Stay informed on current and emerging educational technologies and best practices, and contribute recommendations for improving system usability, reliability, and instructional impact. Support standardized testing environments, including device preparation, network configuration, and on-site technical readiness. Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., monitors, projectors, mounting brackets). Frequent climbing of ladders and use of hand tools to install wall- or ceiling-mounted equipment. Bending, kneeling, crawling, and standing for extended periods during equipment installation or troubleshooting. Comfortable working in classrooms, server closets, rooftops (for camera installation), and other non-office environments. Ability to operate power tools, cable testers, and other installation tools safely and effectively. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel between district campuses or buildings as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field OR equivalent technical experience in a work setting. Experience in IT support or technical services in a school, college, or similar institution preferred. Working knowledge of classroom and instructional technologies, including smart boards, projectors, AV switching systems, Chromebooks, and classroom management tools. Proficient with networking fundamentals, system imaging, device provisioning, and enterprise applications such as Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft 365. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and respond to urgent support requests in a busy academic environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to thorough documentation. Willingness to learn new systems and technologies relevant to modern classrooms and campus operations.
