Electrical Engineer – Traffic Signals, Roadway Lighting, and Signing

with a strong background in highway infrastructure to join our growing team. This role focuses on the planning, design, and management of systems related to traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). You'll play a key part in delivering high-impact transportation projects that improve safety and efficiency across highways, interchanges, and urban streets.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop systems for traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, and ITS.

Prepare and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for transportation infrastructure projects.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including the NEC, AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA, and local DOT guidelines.

Perform field investigations and site assessments; conduct lighting analyses, including photometric and voltage drop calculations.

Coordinate utility service requests and ensure compliance with power company requirements for new installations and system upgrades.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including DOT personnel, contractors, and urban planners.

Provide technical support during construction and perform inspections and quality control for electrical systems.

Produce high-quality design documents using tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AGi32, and Visual Lighting.

Participate in environmental and safety reviews for lighting and electrical installations.

Stay informed about emerging technologies, including solar lighting, smart signage, and LED retrofit strategies.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

PE (Professional Engineer) license .

Minimum 3 years of experience in roadway and highway infrastructure design.

Strong knowledge of highway lighting, traffic signals, and applicable electrical standards.

Proficiency with design tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and photometric analysis software.

Familiarity with transportation project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build.

Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
