Responsibilities

The Position:

We are seeking a skilled MTS IV, Software Engineer (Microservices) to design, develop, and maintain distributed microservices architectures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with containerization, cloud platforms, and modern development practices, along with a passion for building resilient, scalable systems.

Development & Architecture

Design, develop, and maintain microservices using modern programming languages and frameworks

Implement RESTful APIs and ensure seamless inter-service communication

Apply microservices design patterns including service discovery, circuit breaker, and API gateway

Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy discussions

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices

DevOps & Infrastructure

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes

Deploy and manage services on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions

Ensure system reliability, performance, and security

Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA engineers

Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning

Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize deployment and infrastructure

Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Quality & Testing

Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and contract testing

Perform load testing and performance optimization

Debug and troubleshoot distributed systems issues

Ensure code quality through automated testing and code review processes

The salary range of $116,000 - $194,000 is just one component of Panasonic's total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

Advanced degree is preferred

10-15 years' of related experience

Ability to travel to domestic or international locations as required, up to 5% of the time

Programming Skills

Proficiency in at least one modern programming language:

Go

for high-performance services

Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask)

Node.js (Express.js, API development)

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns

Experience with functional programming concepts

Database & Data Management

Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases:

SQL: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server

NoSQL: MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB

Database design, optimization, and performance tuning

Understanding of distributed transactions and eventual consistency

API & Integration

Extensive experience with RESTful API design and implementation

Knowledge of API versioning, pagination, filtering, and error handling

Experience with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI)

Understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth, JWT)

Message queue experience (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka)

Containerization & Orchestration

Proficient in Docker containerization

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration

Understanding of service mesh concepts (Istio, Linkerd)

Container security best practices

Cloud Platforms

Experience with major cloud platforms:

AWS: EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS, RDS

Azure: App Service, Azure Functions, AKS

GCP: Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, GKE

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Serverless computing concepts

DevOps & CI/CD

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

Proficiency with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions

Automated testing integration and deployment strategies

Configuration management and environment provisioning

Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
