W&A Engineering is looking for a Survey Instrument Technicianto join our fast-paced land surveying team. Our

ideal candidate

will have a willingness to follow directions, a working comprehension of boundary surveying, and the ability to understand staking worksheets for civil construction layout (including pipe profiles).

On-the-job training is provided

but familiarity and experience with data collection including proper file management, and the ability to download and upload files in the office.

Experience

2-3+ years experience preferred, but training is available for candidates who are eager to learn

Roles and Responsibilities:

Work with a team to complete an assigned survey on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency Perform land surveys, including ALTA surveys, boundary retracement surveys, topographic surveys, construction layouts, and construction staking Work in collaboration with other members of the survey crew, taking direction from the Survey Crew Chief, and working independently when needed Search, locate, and recover existing survey markers and set out stakes and other markers Collect field data by using assigned survey field equipment, such as a data collector, base and rover, and/or total station Carry instruments, field equipment, hammers, stakes, nails, etc. Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with various tools Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours Follow safety rules at all times and maintain safety awareness Download/upload files and send field data to Survey Office Technicians Perform related duties as assigned Valuable Skills for Success in this Role:

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Must meet physical requirements needed to complete large-scale boundaries, topographic route surveys, engineering design topographic surveys, and construction layout. Required to use equipment properly, including maintenance, instrument setup (total station, GPS, builder's level), and a progressive understanding of potential errors in measurement. Required to be competent at stake driving (including handwriting, ribbon flagging, plumbness), have the ability to cut traverse lines, and

maintain SAFETY awareness .
