About the Role

At Chime, data is at the heart of how we deliver exceptional experiences to our members-and Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are becoming foundational to how we personalize, automate, and make real-time decisions at scale. The ML/AI Platform team is building the infrastructure and tools that power the entire Model Development Lifecycle (MDLC) at Chime-from feature engineering and training to deployment and inference. Increasingly, this also includes support for AI workloads such as embeddings, large language models (LLMs), and real-time intelligent agents.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale our platform, improve ML and AI developer velocity, and ensure reliability, observability, and compliance across the entire stack.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $175,100 and up to $218,900. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to Build scalable and reliable infrastructure to support end-to-end ML and AI workflows-including data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, deployment, and real-time inference Design and maintain self-serve tools and APIs that empower Data ScienceI teams to productionize models, including classical models and large language models (LLMs), with minimal infrastructure friction Partner with Data Science, Product Engineering, Risk, and Analytics to understand their ML/AI use cases and deliver platform capabilities that accelerate experimentation and deployment Implement robust monitoring and observability systems for model health, data drift, performance degradation, and compliance across ML and AI workloads in production Contribute to model governance and lifecycle management, including versioning, promotion workflows, release policies, and automated deprecation across training, staging, and deployment Define and advocate for best practices in ML/AI system design, model reproducibility, lineage tracking, and responsible AI usage Mentor and guide engineers on designing platform abstractions, writing clean, maintainable code, and building systems that scale with growing ML/AI adoption across the company To thrive in this role, you have

5+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems, ideally in the ML domain, with exposure to AI tooling and workflows. A deep understanding of ML development workflows, and hands-on experience addressing challenges in shipping and maintaining models and AI systems in production 3+ years of experience with platform technologies like Kubernetes, Airflow, MLflow, or similar orchestration tools in a modern cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP) Expertise in Python (preferred), strong SQL skills, and familiarity with model training libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or LLM frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers Experience with streaming and batch data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka), and how they support both ML and AI pipelines A strong grasp of API design and platform abstraction, especially in tools aimed at internal ML/AI developers and data scientists A track record of cross-functional collaboration and ownership, partnering across Data Science, Engineering, and Product to drive platform adoption and long-term impact Bonus: Familiarity with AI-specific infrastructure challenges, such as LLM inference, vector databases, embeddings, or prompt orchestration #LI-Hybrid #LI-AA1
