The Director, Medical Research and Education reports to the Vice President, Medical Affairs. This position will oversee Medical Affairs research such as investigator Initiated Trials (IITs), Phase IV patient registries, observational studies, and real-world evidence studies. This position will also support the independent medical education process. This position is based in Deerfield, Illinois at the TerSera headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This section contains a list of the major responsibilities of this role that account for 5% or more of the work. The incumbent will perform other duties assigned. Oversees the review, execution, and management of the IIT research program including: Administrator of the IIT grants module Oversight and leadership of TerSera IIT Review Committee Responsible for keeping the IIT areas of interest updated and communicating updates to internal key stakeholders (e.g., MSL team) Responsible for managing the IIT budget and keeping internal key stakeholders (e.g., Finance and Medical Affairs leadership) routinely apprised. Oversight of Medical Affairs-managed phase IV patient registries/observational and real-world evidence studies. Collaborates with R&D/Clinical teams to support ongoing or pending research projects. Oversees the independent medical education process as the Administrator of the independent medical education grants module. Contributes to the monthly Literature Alerts & Competitive Intelligence Surveillance Newsletter as necessary. Ad hoc support of literature searches and data analysis for TerSera Leadership for business development, competitive intelligence, and other business-related needs. Serves as a key member of the Medical Planning process for TerSera products. Assists in the development of and execution of strategic Medical Affairs initiatives such as advisory boards and scientific communications plans. Assists in mentoring and precepting the Medical Affairs Fellow and pharmacy students. Non-Essential Functions: Standard non-essential functions for all TerSera Therapeutics employees.

Research experience within a pharmaceutical organization or the US Healthcare System. Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific data. Demonstrated ability and capacity to network and establish key relationships. Proven track record of teamwork, leadership, timely decision making, and results orientation in meeting key objectives. Ability to travel Education and/or Experience: Include the education and experience that is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.
PharmD, PhD, MD, or BSN/NP. 5+ years of experience within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry with 2+ years of experience managing research programs. Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of therapeutic areas of interest to TerSera Therapeutics.
