Position Overview:
Team Ignite is seeking a Database Warehouse Specialist (Journeyman) to support the U.S. Coast Guard's enterprise data warehousing and analytics environment at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC). This position plays a key role in designing, configuring, and supporting the data warehousing infrastructure that enables decision-makers across the Coast Guard to access and analyze integrated data from multiple systems.
The candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and performance tuning of data warehouse systems, ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable data storage and access. The specialist will also serve as a liaison between system engineers, data architects, and developers to enforce data governance, perform vulnerability remediation, and implement Agile-aligned change management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data warehouse systems that support analytics, reporting, and operational data integration. Configure and optimize database warehouse platforms to ensure consistent performance and availability for USCG users. Coordinate the technical function of data warehouse development and ongoing support in collaboration with system stakeholders. Perform data modeling and transformation activities to support ingestion, storage, and presentation layers. Facilitate Agile DevSecOps practices in data warehousing workflows, supporting change control, problem management, and sprint-based delivery. Maintain comprehensive system documentation including configuration baselines, process workflows, and change management logs. Execute data security best practices, including the remediation of vulnerabilities discovered through scans and assessments. Support compliance efforts with organizational data standards and integrate with enterprise information systems as needed. Provide technical support to end users, analysts, and developers leveraging warehouse datasets for business or mission applications. This position is pending contract award.
Job Requirements
Tools and Environments:
Data Warehousing platforms (e.g., SQL Server Data Warehouse, Oracle Warehouse Builder, or equivalent) Agile DevSecOps toolsets (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) Kubernetes and container-based deployment environments Security and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Tenable, or equivalent) Minimum Education and Qualifications - Journeyman Level:
Education: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, Engineering, or related field; or a recognized IT certification. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted for one (1) year of formal education. Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience in data warehousing, including database development, configuration, and support. Minimum one (1) year of experience in an Agile DevSecOps software development and engineering environment. Minimum one (1) year of experience using Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or equivalent. Minimum two (2) years of experience performing security remediation on systems based on results from security scans. Must be able to obtain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation. Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard systems or DHS enterprise data environments. Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools. Strong documentation and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.
