Our client is a fast-growing venture-backed fintech company on a mission to democratize access to financial tools through next-generation tax solutions. They are building intelligent, API-first tax products that integrate seamlessly into the financial apps people use daily. With over 360,000 returns filed this year and major partnerships with leading fintechs, the company is revolutionizing how everyday Americans engage with taxes. They are expanding their high-performance engineering team to support ambitious growth targets - including doubling or tripling their impact next year.
The team is currently around 35 people, composed of experienced engineers, product leaders, and startup veterans passionate about building scalable, impactful products. This is an opportunity to make a difference from day one - building mission-critical features, shaping the culture, and delivering real value to millions. What You Will Do Design, build, and maintain scalable software systems that power modern tax infrastructure Own features end-to-end - from architecture and development to testing, deployment, and scale Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and other engineers to translate complex requirements into simple, robust solutions Integrate advanced technologies including AI, ML, and LLMs into the product to enhance user experience and automation Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering best practices Help grow and strengthen a high-performing team and engineering culture Ideal Candidate Background 4-15 years of professional experience in software engineering Strong backend development experience with languages like Go, Python, Ruby, or C++ Full-stack fluency - able to move across frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend systems comfortably Comfortable working in high-agency, fast-paced startup environments Experience at a Seed to Series B startup or companies with a high bar for engineering performance Proven track record of shipping products end-to-end with ownership and accountability Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available) Able to work in-person 3 days/week at the San Francisco office Preferred Experience integrating AI/ML/LLM technologies into production software Exposure to product domains like fintech, taxes, or consumer infrastructure Past tenure at companies known for performance culture or deep technical rigor Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building from scratch Compensation, Benefits & Perks Competitive base salary: $160,000 - $250,000 10-30 basis points of equity Bonus and referral incentives available Work in-office 3 days per week at a centrally located SF office Be part of a mission-driven team tackling real-world financial access problems Ownership and autonomy from day one
