DescriptionFor over 35 years, Janian Medical Care has provided psychiatric care to New Yorkers with lived experience of homelessness at supportive housing, shelters, outreach teams, and at community treatment programs. Janian is widely recognized as a leader in the delivery and development of person-centered, psychiatric care that is integrated with community-based programs. Janian psychiatric care is empowering, works towards social justice and directly intervenes on the social determinants of health. The MD Assistant Medical Director works with Janian leadership and the psychiatric care team to ensure psychiatric care is high quality and accessible to those who experience barriers to care. Responsibilities:In collaboration with Janian leadership, the MD Assistant Medical Director engages in the following activities to fulfill this role: •Supports effective, person-centered psychiatric care: o Ensures safe and effective psychiatric care at Janian programs. o Participates in the clinical orientation, onboarding and ongoing educational activities of psychiatric clinicians. o Provides clinical supervision to psychiatric practitioners. o Develops and implements policies, procedures, trainings and best practices to safely and effectively deliver psychiatric care. o Leads and participates in case conferences and clinical team meetings as needed. o Assists in recruiting, hiring and retaining psychiatry staff including physicians and nurse practitioners. o Provides psychiatric care to those with lived experience of homelessness. o Supports psychiatric care team in clinical innovation and initiatives o Liaises with outside providers, medical centers, agencies, government agencies and funders as needed and as directed by the Director of Psychiatry. o Proactively identifies potential problems affecting program services and participates as appropriate in developing and implementing solutions. o Reports to the Director of Psychiatry.Requirements•Board Certified or Board Eligible provider (physician) in good standing, licensed to practice medicine in New York State, with training in psychiatry. •Experience providing public psychiatric care. •Clinical teaching and supervision experience preferred•Committed to servant leadership principles and person-centered care. •Proficient in the use of electronic medical records. •Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
