The Role We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Lead Information Security Engineer with expertise in Automation, API Security, Cloud Computing, Networking, and Virtualization to join our Security Architecture & Engineering team. This role involves building security solutions to protect Lumen customers and infrastructure from advanced security threats. The ideal candidate will certify architecture designs, engineer complex software and APIs, create implementation guides, and coordinate with security operations teams. They will design, deliver, and support low-level engineering designs, as well as automation and virtualization improvements within existing and new virtualized cloud infrastructure environments. This role requires a deep understanding of software automation, API design, cloud delivery, system scaling, virtualization technologies, and best practices in information security. Additionally, the role involves recurring collaboration with Product Management, IT, Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams to provide subject matter expertise on various aspects of the business and solutions delivered to them. Location This is a work from home position within the US. The Main Responsibilities Security Engineering: researches, evaluates, engineers, develops, troubleshoots, and supports solutions and infrastructure for the company's Managed Security portfolio. Technical Documentation and Test Procedures: Defines and executes repeatable test procedures, creates technical documentation, applies security controls, and delivers scalable standards. Solution Design: Responsible for independent engineering design, collaborating with Product Management, Product Development, Architecture, and Operations staff on complex security solutions. New Capabilities: Provides input regarding multivendor network, compute, virtualization, and security infrastructure capabilities and future possibilities to conceptualize new products, features, and innovations. Improve Processes: Assesses operational processes to identify opportunities to optimize, enhance, automate, or secure. Security Infrastructure Support: Provides guidance to other teams for ongoing scale, management, and monitoring of deployed solutions. Lifecycle Management: Provides information and recommendations to other teams for supporting all platform lifecycle management. Vendor Relations: Develops partnerships with key equipment suppliers, communicates requirements, guidance, and vision to develop, implement, and support security solutions. What We Look For in a Candidate Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship, eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government personnel security clearance. Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 8+ years of related experience. Python coding experience: 10+ years of professional experience(Perl, C, Rust, Java). Security Certifications: CISSP, CISM or CISA. Security infrastructure engineering, scaling & deployment. Cloud deployment experience, with a focus on service resiliency, scaling, security & networking. In-depth understanding of cloud platform infrastructure, networking, storage, and platform services and proficiency in cloud-native tools, virtualization and orchestration. Cloud Certifications: AWS/Azure/GCP. Network & Switching: BGP, GRE, VLAN, IPSec, VPN, VxLAN, MPLS. Advanced knowledge in cryptography and compression. Advanced Virtualization Performance: eBPF, XDP, CUDA. DevOps/QA: SonarQube, OWASP ZAP / Burp Suite, Junit / Selenium. Cloud & IaC: Pulumi, Chef / Puppet / SaltStack. DevSecOps: Cloud/Container security, software BoM, scanning, fuzzing, static analysis. Observability: ELK Stack, Splunk, OpenTelemetry. Preferred Qualifications: Federal/DOD accreditation, FISMA, DCID, NIST policy framework, Security infrastructure engineering, cloud deployment experience, cloud platform infrastructure, networking, storage, platform services, cloud-native tools, virtualization, orchestration. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges: $129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
