Senior Data Engineer - GCP

CVS Health Digital is looking for a dynamic and driven Senior Data Engineer - GCP to serve as a senior technical resource for an engineering team tasked with creating best in class experiences focused on identifying, prioritizing and shaping complex enterprise initiatives in partnership with business stakeholders. This engineer will build efficient and scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate should have strong experience in microservices architecture, Kafka, Pub/Sub, NoSQL Databases, Big Query, Dataflow and Cloud Functions. In summation, this Data Engineer will design, develop, and implement digital solutions and systems by applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects. What you will do: Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines on GCP using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub Build and maintain microservices to support data processing and analytics Develop real-time and batch data ingestion frameworks using Kafka Work with NoSQL databases (e.g., Firestore, Cassandra, MongoDB) to support high-throughput data applications Ensure data integrity, governance, and security best practices in the data pipeline Optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of data solutions Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver end-to-end data products Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for data pipelines and services Participates in agile or other development methodologies, attends meetings, contributes to project planning, and helps drive the progress and success of digital projects Explores new tools, frameworks, and techniques to improve digital solutions and drive innovation within the development team Creates and maintains technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, code documentation, and other relevant documentation while sharing their knowledge and expertise with team members, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and collaboration Required Qualifications: 5+ years of overall experience in large-scale software development with at least 2+ years of experience in a technical lead role 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on microservices-based data solutions 5+ years of designing and developing highly scalable Microservices, Webservices, and Rest API's 3+ years of hands-on experience with GCP services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage 3+ years of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD for data pipelines 3+ years of experience developing within an agile development Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing and developing in a Test-Driven Development environment Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Stackdriver, or ELK Understanding of distributed computing and data partitioning strategies Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Familiarity with Apache Beam or Flink for large-scale data processing Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and integration with data engineering workflows Experience in performance tuning and cost optimization in cloud environments Experience with new SQL databases Education: Bachelors degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience) Business Overview: Bring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health. Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40 Time Type: Full time Pay Range: The typical pay range for this role is: $83,430.00 - $203,940.00 This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
