Within LPN scope of practice and in accordance with district policies and procedures, provide a safe, healthful environment for students.2. Administer first aid, CPR, specialized treatment, medication, nursing care and emergency care to students who are sick or injured; notify District Registered Nurse (RN), administrator, and parents, as required.3. Administer prescription and non-prescription medicine as prescribed by health care professionals and identified in the IHP; maintains daily log.4. Accompany medically dependent student(s) to and from school when medical status is considered at risk for life threatening events during transport.5. Perform standard physical health care procedures as outlined in the student's/students' Individual Health Care Plan (IHP).6. Assist with the identification, prevention, and control of communicable diseases; observe universal precautions at all times.7. Regularly maintain the student's/students' health records, files, and supplies and communicate with the RN.8. Complete accident and suspected child abuse reports, as required.9. Attend training related to students' medical treatment needs.10. Provide input in the development and implementation of student health care plans and emergency plans as directed by the School District RN.11. Collaborate and consult with the District RN and other staff to identify and address school safety and environmental health needs.12. Maintain accurate records pertaining to medication and treatment administration, immunizations, screening results and injury records.13. Serve as an advocate for the health rights of students as a professional liaison and resource for school staff, family and health community.14. Collaborate with the District RN to coordinate and implement health screenings.15. Be dependable, including good habits in attendance and punctuality.16. Communicate clearly and concisely, with courtesy and respect.17. Work effectively under pressure.18. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with regard to all district related matters and records; provides a friendly, open, safe and service oriented atmosphere.19. Perform other related duties and functions consistent with the scope of the position described, as requested.The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. The position may perform a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:1. Washington State License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).2. Current CPR/First Aid certification.3. Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:1. Knowledge of principles of nursing and medical terminology.2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of aseptic/sterile techniques and infectious disease control.3. Knowledge of care and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.4. Knowledge of first aid and CPR.5. Ability to learn and integrate policies and procedures adopted by the school building, the District and the State of Washington.6. Ability to communicate in person, writing, or on the phone, with students, staff, parents, volunteers, and the community as well as the ability to demonstrate patience and flexibility in providing for students with special needs in a pleasant and helpful manner, to remain composed and effectively employ judgment in emergency situations.7. Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, developmental, religious and ethnic diversity of students and community.8. Ability to perform the physical demands of the job9. Ability to work under pressure, adjust to varied situations, demands, and new health issues.10. Ability to be entrusted with confidential and sensitive information.11. Ability to establish positive relationships with school-aged youth, parents and colleagues.12. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through Washington state Patrol and FBI.
