Aalo Atomics

Aalo Atomics is pioneering a new era in clean energy with factory-fabricated microreactors designed to deliver affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power. Our mission is to make nuclear energy globally accessible, starting with the Aalo-1, a 10 MWe reactor leveraging cutting-edge safety, modularity, and efficiency. Based in Austin, TX, we're rapidly growing as we work to deploy the world's first fleet of advanced microreactors. Join us and help revolutionize energy for a sustainable future. About the Role

You will own and evolve Aalo Atomics' core IT infrastructuredata-center networking, multi-OS endpoints, on-prem servers, and cloud-based high-performance compute (HPC). The role blends hands-on engineering with continuous improvement of security controls and operational processes. Core Infrastructure

Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Layer 2/3 networks, firewalls, and VPNs. Administer Windows Server/Active Directory, Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL), and macOS devices using modern endpoint-management tools. Maintain backup, recovery, and storage solutions (NAS/SAN, Azure Blob/Data Lake). Cloud & HPC Operations

Operate Azure-hosted HPC clusters for engineering simulations; optimize job scheduling, cost, and performance. Automate infrastructure tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripts and, where practical, Infrastructure-as-Code tools. Security & Compliance

Implement baseline cybersecurity controls (EDR, patching, log collection, least-privilege IAM). Collaborate with our industrial-cybersecurity consultant on assessments, incident drills, and roadmap improvements. Collaboration & Documentation

Produce clear runbooks, architecture diagrams, and status reports for engineers, scientists, and leadership. Recommend tooling or process changes that reduce friction and strengthen security. Qualifications

Required

Proven hands-on experience managing mixed Windows, Linux, and macOS environments. Strong practical knowledge of enterprise networking (routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, VPN). Demonstrated ability to run or support HPC clusters or other large-scale compute workloadson-prem or in Azure. Working understanding of core cybersecurity principles (vulnerability management, incident response basics). Scripting or automation skills in at least one language (PowerShell, Bash, or Python). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred

Exposure to regulated or safety-critical industries (energy, aerospace, healthcare, etc.). Familiarity with Azure Batch, CycleCloud, or Slurm for HPC. Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, RHCSA/RHCE, Azure Administrator, or Security+. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi) or CI/CD platforms. Physical

Able to lift up to 40 lbs/18 kg for occasional hardware installation.
