Position Summary:
As a member of our R&D group, you will work in small cross-functional scrum teams consisting of software developers, engineers, and testers. You will influence the design and have a vital role in development of software components for use in Vecima's varied product offerings. We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong experience in Linux-based, containerized environments and expertise in both C++ backend development and modern front-end technologies. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in C++ (including the Poco framework), and front-end development using React, Chakra UI, and TypeScript. Familiarity with OpenAPI and experience building and consuming modern APIs is also expected.
You will work in a distributed engineering environment to design and implement scalable, high-performance networking and management solutions.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Design and develop backend software in Linux environments using C++ and the Poco framework. Build and maintain user-facing interfaces using React, Chakra UI, and TypeScript. Define and implement RESTful APIs using OpenAPI specifications. Implement containerized services within a Linux-based infrastructure. Collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions across platforms. Diagnose and resolve issues spanning backend, UI, and distributed systems. Position requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 4+ years of experience in software development in Linux/Unix environments. Proficiency in C++, with experience using the Poco C++ framework. Front-end development experience with React, Chakra UI, and TypeScript. Experience designing and integrating APIs using OpenAPI. Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD, and debugging best practices. Experience working with containerized application environments and orchestrators. Preferred skills:
Experience with debugging and performance tools: GDB, Valgrind, Perf. Hands-on experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira. Familiarity with PON technologies (e.g., GPON, XGS-PON). Understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture. Core Competencies:
