Job Purpose:
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Counseling, the Clinical School Social Worker Supervisor is responsible for providing consultation, wellness services, ongoing case management, and a full range of social emotional prevention, intervention, counseling and agency linkage to resources within the RJA. Effectively promotes the identification of students with behavioral and social emotional concerns and provides evidence-based education, behavior, mental health services, and counseling support. School Social Worker Supervisor provides a variety of direct and indirect services that include case management functions involved in identifying, assessing, and counseling a diverse range of students and families. School Social Workers are accountable for improving student achievement through the effective operation of an assigned area; developing service plans, providing interventions as needed, and participating in the development of programs aimed at student achievement. School Social Worker supervisor will manage social work interns by completing track of intern hours and participating in weekly check in meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling, the School Social Worker Supervisor performs the following duties:
•Supervision and training of MSW Interns (MSWI) providing services to district students and families; ability to perform the duties of a field preceptor to MSW level
•Implementation of school-based mental health and wellness services.
•Identifies at risk of school failure due to social, behavioral, and emotional problems utilizing evidence based and/or evidence informed practices.
•Support in individual and/or group counseling and early intervention services for students, i.e., mental health, trauma awareness, social skills, grief, anger management, conflict resolution, peer mediation, motivation, and other social emotional issues that impact learning.
•Lead risk assessments, respond to crisis situations and assist with the assessment of students expressing suicidal and homicidal ideation.
•Participate as an active member of site and district crisis teams.
•Maintain grant documentation and all required paperwork
•Guide MSW interns through tasks
•Support students and families with resources
•Utilize district data management systems for documentation of referrals, delivery and
evaluation/measurement and progress monitoring of social work services.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Traits:
•Skills in the various modes of social work with emphasis on crisis intervention, school-based health services, and community organization
•Techniques and experience in working with individuals from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
•Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
•An ability to work with students, parents and school and community agency personnel
•Meet and schedule timelines; plan and organize workload
•Maintain confidential records
•Task orientated
•Flexibility in adapting to change
Minimum Requirements:
•A master's degree from a social work program (MSW) (ACSW)
•LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Preferred: Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Social Work; Incremental progress requirements towards obtaining a valid license as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences:
•Register for and pass the examinations required by the BBS no later than completion of year 2
•Two full years Post graduate MSW, in addition; 2 years experience, preferred
•Experience working with at-risk children
Physical demands:
•Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
•Occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping and reaching for extended periods of time
