Job SummaryTo assist the Director of Nursing with all departmental duties to ensure the facility residents receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care.QualificationsLicensed Registered Nurse preferedDuties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with scheduling and assignment of nursing staffAssist with nursing care on shift, as neededPromote employee satisfaction by providing staff with the opportunity to express their concerns and resolve disputesAssist in the supervision the maintenance of facility medical recordsMonitor staff compliance with Policy and Procedures and Nursing Practice Protocols (I.e. rounding, medication reviews, medication pass rounds, enteralfeeding/medication pass, etc.)Evaluate performance of Nursing Staff for probationary period, annually and as neededAssure resident care needs are met and resident rights ensuredSupervise all admissions, transfers, and discharges of residentsMonitor documentation of medical records for accuracyAssist with CQI and ensure follow-up for issues identifiedAssist with coordination of mediation for Residents / Families and Multidisciplinary Team to resolve care issues and/or complaintsQuarterly CQI Meeting, and other committee meeting as assignedAssist DON in the provision of a monthly in-service training to all nursing department staff; maintain records of all such in-service trainingAssist DON in performing monthly Chart Audits and thinning of chartsCoordinate monitoring of Resident weights and Dietitian recommendationsCoordinate Pharmacy recommendations and monitor monthly reviewAssist DON in the review all closed resident charts (discharge / death) for Risk Management issuesObtain certification approval for Oxygen therapy for ResidentsAssist DON in maintenance of adequate staffing levelsAssist DON with employee counseling, as neededAssist DON with the development of department Policy and Procedures and Nurse Practice Protocols. Review and update Policies and Protocols with DON and Administrator on an annual basis and as neededServe as Infection Control NurseAssist Investigative Team with follow-up review/investigation for all reports of abuse, etcCoordinate Fall Committee meetings
