Studio Lead, Structural Engineering

Responsibilities

Serves as a technical expert within the engineering team to plan the design process and solve problems of large scope and complexity Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate engineering requirements Leads site investigations and observations Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints Facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination Reviews engineering documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI's, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team Leads the establishment and maintenance of engineering quality control processes and procedures Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Engineers, EITs, and designers Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals and designers Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team Models and or coaches other engineers how to effectively communicate Facilitate discipline project team creation in pursuit and delivery activities Responsible for implementation of discipline standard practices in studio to facilitate one brand practice Responsible for identifying discipline Subject Matter Experts specific to markets and technical experience within studio and communicating expertise to Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering Participate or identify key personnel for participation in development of specific standardization practices identified by Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering Responsible for communicating studio resource needs to Operations Director and Discipline Director for work sharing and recruiting coordination Responsible for communicating engineering specific business development efforts in studio to Discipline Director Participates in recruiting and hiring for discipline Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development Performs marketing and business development activities including building relationship with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required Qualifications

10+ years licensed experience /3+ years team management ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering Registered Professional Engineer required General Characteristics

Assists Project Managers with fee development for engineering portions of work Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD required. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using industry standard calculation software required Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately

Salary range for this position varies between $95,000 - $145,000, depending upon applicable experience.
