Strategic ACI is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to contribute to the quality assurance and testing efforts for complex enterprise applications, including both geospatial and non-geospatial systems. This role involves designing and executing test plans and test cases, both manual and automated, based on clearly defined requirements, user stories, and technical specifications. As a key member of a collaborative Agile development team, you will work closely with software developers, product owners, and fellow QA professionals to ensure that applications meet defined functional, performance, and data integrity standards. You'll also have the opportunity to support test automation efforts, help refine QA processes and grow your capabilities under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
Responsibilities:
Review quality specifications and technical design documents to ensure proper understanding of system behavior and test coverage needs. Design and execute manual and automated test plans and test cases for a range of applications, including web-based Esri ArcGIS solutions, API-driven services, and cloud-hosted platforms. Automate regression tests and develop reusable test automation scripts using tools such as Selenium, Python, or ArcGIS Notebooks. Execute and maintain automated testing pipelines within CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins). Support back-end testing efforts, including validation of data, review of trace logs, and analysis of stack traces to diagnose exceptions or errors. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives; contribute to test estimation and backlog grooming. Log and track defects using tools like Jira; ensure thorough documentation of test results and defect reproduction steps. Mentor junior QA testers as appropriate, supporting knowledge sharing and standardization of testing practices. Qualifications:
Required:
U.S. Citizen. Active Secret Clearance. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field plus 10 years of specialized experience OR a Master's degree in a related field plus 8 years of specialized experience. Minimum 8 years of test and evaluation experience supporting DoD or DHS systems. Minimum 5 years in test automation, preferably supporting federal geospatial applications. Demonstrated experience with Esri ArcGIS, SaaS solutions, and AWS-hosted environments. Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, pytest, TestNG) and scripting languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript. Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working within a cross-functional team. Ability to analyze application logs and tracebacks to assist with defect identification and resolution.
