Data Scientist / Solutions Engineer
Maxar is seeking a Data Scientist / Solutions Engineer to work in an agile and fast paced customer environment supporting users whose mission is to solve unique and challenging problems in support of national security. The ideal candidate will be part of a small multi-disciplinary big data analytics team and have the unique opportunity to interact directly with users and other technologists to ensure solutions, development and tools meet the needs of the customer. Note: US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph are mandatory for this position and required for consideration. Location: Herndon, VA or Westminster, CO. This is a full time onsite position; hybrid/remote work not supported. Principal Responsibilities: Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover insights, trends, and patterns that drive business or mission-critical decisions Develop, test, and deploy statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data-driven solutions to solve real-world problems Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data needs and translate requirements into actionable analytics Communicate findings clearly through visualizations, dashboards, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences Skills Required: 4+ years of experience in geospatial data analysis, including analytical design, programming, and tradecraft development Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Java for statistical modeling, data manipulation, and automation Experience working in Linux environments and with hybrid architectures (on-prem and cloud) Familiarity with deploying, scaling, and maintaining data science solutions on cloud or hybrid platforms Effective collaboration with geographically distributed development and operations teams Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences Bachelor's or Advanced degree or equivalent experience in AI ML (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning), Data Science, Math, or like technical fields Willingness to work onsite 80% or as needs dictate. Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and US citizenship Additional Skills Desired: Familiarity with geospatial data formats, overhead imagery, and the Agile software development lifecycle Understanding of statistical and analytical concepts such as uncertainty modeling, spatial analytics, model evaluation, correlation analysis, and data visualization Adaptable, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently in fast-paced, dynamic environments Experience working in virtualized Linux environments on secure government infrastructure Background in military or intelligence analysis, or familiarity with IC PED systems, is a strong plus Maxar Technologies values diversity in the workplace and is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
